Business Days Calculator: Count Working Days Between Two Dates

A business days calculator tells you how many working days fall between two dates, or which date you reach after a set number of working days. Weekends are left out, and you can skip public holidays as well. It is useful for delivery estimates, invoice due dates, notice periods, project schedules and any deadline that is written in business days instead of calendar days. Choose which days make up your weekend, turn on US federal holidays or add your own dates, and the result updates as you type.

Quick answer: from Sun, Nov 1, 2026 to Mon, Nov 30, 2026 there are 21 business days with only weekends skipped, and 19 when the US federal holidays on November 11 and November 26 are skipped too. Thirty business days after Tue, Oct 6, 2026 is Tue, Nov 17, 2026.

How Business Days Are Counted

The calculator looks at each calendar day in your range. A day counts only if it is not a weekend day and not a holiday. Holidays that land on a weekend are not removed twice.

Business daysBusiness days = Calendar days − Weekend days − Holidays on working days

The start and end dates are counted by default, as long as they are working days. If you are measuring the time that passes, such as a delivery window that starts the day after an order, change the Counting setting to leave out the start date, the end date or both.

Worked Example

The table shows November 2026, a month with 30 calendar days that starts on a Sunday.

November 1 to 30, 2026Weekends onlyWith US holidays
Calendar days3030

The year works the same way. All of 2026 has 261 weekdays, and skipping the 11 US federal holidays leaves 250 business days.

Adding and Subtracting Business Days

To move a date, switch to Add or subtract days and enter how many business days to move. The start date itself is not counted, so one business day after a Friday is the next Monday. Moving thirty business days from Tue, Oct 6, 2026 reaches Tue, Nov 17, 2026, which is 42 calendar days later. With US federal holidays skipped the answer is Thu, Nov 19, 2026. Going backward works the same way, and ten business days before Tue, Oct 6, 2026 is Tue, Sep 22, 2026.

Business Days in Each Month of 2026

These figures use a Monday to Friday week. The holiday column shows how many weekdays the US federal holidays remove, including the observed Friday or Monday.

About US Federal Holidays

The built-in list covers New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. When a fixed-date holiday falls on a Saturday it is observed on the Friday, and when it falls on a Sunday it is observed on the Monday. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is included from 1986 and Juneteenth from 2021. Company holidays, state holidays and bank closures vary, so add those as custom dates in the YYYY-MM-DD format.

Related Date Tools

To count every calendar day between two dates, use the days between dates calculator. To add months or years to a date, the date calculator is a better fit, and the work hours calculator turns working days into paid hours. For hours and minutes across a day, try the hours calculator and the time calculator.

Limits of This Calculator

The tool counts whole days and does not account for time zones, half days or business hours. Dates must fall between the years 1900 and 2200. Shipping carriers, banks and courts may define business days in their own way, so check the terms of your agreement for deadlines that matter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the Business Days Calculator.
How do I calculate business days between two dates?
Count every day from the start date to the end date, then leave out weekends and any holidays. This calculator does that automatically. For example, November 1 to November 30, 2026 has 21 business days when only weekends are skipped, and 19 when US federal holidays are skipped as well.
Are the start and end dates counted?
You choose. By default both the start date and the end date are counted when they are working days, which matches most spreadsheet and payroll methods. The Counting option lets you include only one of them or neither.
What is the difference between business days and working days?
In everyday use they mean the same thing: days when most offices are open, usually Monday to Friday and not public holidays. Some companies also count Saturday as a working day, so the calculator lets you change which days are the weekend.
How do I add business days to a date?
Switch to Add or subtract days, enter a start date and the number of business days, and the tool returns the resulting date. Thirty business days after Tue, Oct 6, 2026 is Tue, Nov 17, 2026, or Thu, Nov 19, 2026 when US federal holidays are skipped.
Does it include public holidays?
Not unless you tell it to. Turn on US federal holidays, which are calculated for every year in your range including the observed Friday or Monday, or type your own dates in the YYYY-MM-DD format. Holidays that land on a weekend are not counted twice.
Can I use a different weekend, such as Friday and Saturday?
Yes. Choose Friday and Saturday, Sunday only, Saturday only or no weekend at all from the Weekend days list. The count and the date results follow the setting you pick.
