Time Zone Converter: Convert the Time Between Any Cities

A time zone converter turns a time in one place into the matching time somewhere else. Pick a date and a time, choose the zone you are starting from, and add as many destinations as you need. This free time zone converter shows each result with its date, the UTC offset, the time difference and whether it falls in business hours, so scheduling a call across continents becomes quick. It follows the daylight saving rules of every zone for the date you choose, and you can switch between a 12-hour and a 24-hour clock.

Quick answer: 10:00 AM in New York on October 6, 2026 is 11:00 PM in Tokyo on the same day. New York is on daylight saving time (UTC−4) and Tokyo is at UTC+9, so Tokyo is 13 hours ahead.

How Time Zone Conversion Works

Every time zone is defined by its offset from UTC, Coordinated Universal Time. To convert, you move the time back to UTC and forward to the destination.

Converted timeDestination time = Source time − Source offset + Destination offset

For a source of 10:00 AM in New York at UTC−4 and a destination of Tokyo at UTC+9, the calculation is 10:00 + 4 hours gives 14:00 UTC, and 14:00 + 9 hours gives 23:00, or 11:00 PM.

Daylight Saving Time

Many countries move their clocks forward in spring and back in autumn, but not on the same days, and many zones never change. That is why the time difference between two cities can shift by an hour during the year. This converter looks up the offset for the exact date, so it stays correct even in the weeks when one country has changed its clocks and another has not.

Tips for Scheduling Across Time Zones

Look for the overlap in business hours, which the converter marks for each place. State the time zone in invitations, such as 3:00 PM London time, and avoid relying on abbreviations alone, because some are shared by several zones. When a meeting is close to a daylight saving change, check the date again. For counting days or hours around a deadline, the time calculator, hours calculator and days between dates calculator can help.

Limits of This Converter

The converter relies on the time zone data in your browser, which follows the standard IANA database. Governments sometimes change their rules at short notice, so very recent or future changes may not be reflected on an old device. A zone with only a few places listed here is represented by a major city that shares its rules.

Who Can Use This Converter?

Remote teams, travelers planning flights and calls, students joining online classes, traders watching markets in other regions, and anyone with family or friends abroad.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the Time Zone Converter.
How do I convert time from one time zone to another?
Take the time in the first zone, subtract that zone's UTC offset to get UTC, then add the UTC offset of the second zone. For example, 10:00 AM in New York (UTC−4 in October) is 14:00 UTC, which is 11:00 PM in Tokyo (UTC+9). This converter does the steps for you, including daylight saving time.
Does the converter handle daylight saving time?
Yes. It uses the time zone rules built into your browser, so the right offset is applied for the date you pick. Zones like New York and London change their offset during the year, while Tokyo, Dubai and India stay the same all year.
Why is the result on a different date?
When the zones are many hours apart, the same moment can fall on the next or the previous calendar day. The converter shows Same day, Next day or Previous day beside each result so you can see it at once.
Can I compare more than two time zones?
Yes. Use Add time zone to convert the same moment into up to six places at once. The first one appears in large type, and the rest are listed below with their offset, date and whether it is business hours there.
What does UTC mean?
UTC stands for Coordinated Universal Time, the standard that time zones are measured from. A zone written as UTC+9 is nine hours ahead of UTC, and UTC−5 is five hours behind it. UTC itself does not change for daylight saving.
What if the time I enter does not exist?
On the day clocks spring forward, one hour is skipped in that zone, so a time such as 2:30 AM does not exist. The converter tells you and uses the nearest valid time. On the day clocks fall back, a time can occur twice, and the first one is used.
